River and I had a busy week this week! Today we both took a rest day to catch up on some sleep and relax a bit 😌. Lots of snuggles were involved 🙌. We did a little training session and River was a rockstar!!! He did super great 😍. We just worked on a random mix of things; rally, tricks, and tasking! I use some yummy sweet potato chip treats that his nana made for him and he loved them 😋. I loved his engagement and how happy he was to work today 🙂. I’m a proud mama! I took a few videos clips so I should hopefully be able to post a Training Tuesday video this week 😍. Hope you guys have a great and safe weekend friends!!! 😘🐾🖤

“What if 2020 isn’t cancelled?⠀
What if 2020 is the year we’ve been waiting for?⠀
A year so uncomfortable, so painful, so scary, so raw -⠀
That it finally forces us to grow.⠀
A year that screams so loud, finally awakening us from our ignorant slumber.⠀
A year we finally accept the need to change.⠀
Declare change. Work for change. Become the change. ⠀
A year we finally band together, instead of ⠀
pushing each other further apart.⠀
⠀
2020 isn’t cancelled but rather ⠀
the most important year of them all.”⠀
⠀

Hand in hand, let’s take a stand! Use your voice! Vote with your dollar (& your ballot if elections are happening near you)! There is a link in my bio with organizations where you can donate to support the #BlackLivesMatter movement! 🙏⠀

If you cant donate, there’s other ways you can make an impact: learning about race & racism, having difficult conversations with people about racism, elevating black voices, check in your black friends, and voting in your local elections. Don’t be afraid to do things that make you uncomfortable; that is how we grow! 🙌 ⠀

We hope you are all doing okay and are staying safe 🖤. We are busy bees over here this week with medical appointments and such. River is getting back into the groove of working again 🐩💕. Love my hard working boy! Hope you enjoy this picture from our lovely walk yesterday evening! We are beyond blessed that we can go for a walk and not be fearful for our lives 🙏. I’m definitely noticing all of my privilege more and more every day.

It doesn’t feel right to continue posting here without acknowledging what is happening in the world so we lift a paw in solidarity. This account details my journey through life with River but I want it to also reflect my values as a person. Though, as a white woman, I can’t understand what our black friends are feeling right now; I understand that I can’t understand so I’m doing what I can to stand in support. I’m angry and sad but those feelings don’t even compare to the hurt and anger and fear and dehumanization being felt by the black community. I’ve never had to live in fear because of the colour of my skin. I think it’s important that I use that privilege and the small platform I have here to support black lives. It’s not enough to be sad or angry; it’s time to do the work. I can be in the presence of police officers and not fear for my life. I can go for a walk and not fear for my life. I can feel safe in my community, a safety that black people have not gotten to feel, a safety everyone deserves to feel. Right now is not the time to sit back and watch. The system is beyond broken and it’s time for us to stand up, for us to listen to BIPOC, for us to donate, for us to speak up, for us to address the fact this injustice needs to end NOW. This has gone on for way too long and it’s important for us to open our eyes and not be blinded by the privilege we have. Our silence doesn’t change the world. If it feels uncomfortable to talk about this, good, that means we need to discuss it even more. The fear of discomfort is what allows history to keep repeating itself over and over again. Our fear of discomfort is what allows this systematic discrimination and police brutality to continue. We need to use our voices to amplify those whose voices aren’t being heard and even more importantly, we need to open our ears to listen to the people who are directly being impacted by racism. We need to listen to learn, to become allies for change. This injustice has gone on for too long. I’m ready to no longer be complacent, to no longer be silent; are you? “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor” -Desmond Tutu. #BlackLivesMatter
